About the Teacher

This is my fifth year at Douglas Elementary. Before moving to Raleigh, I spent 9 wonderful years teaching at the Fiorello LaGuardia Academy of Arts and Technology (P.S. 205) in New York City. I have also taught English at a high school in South Korea. I have earned a BA from St. Bonaventure University in upstate NY and a Masters degree in Education from the College of Mount St. Vincent in NYC. I am an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. In my spare time I enjoy playing guitar, reading and spending time with my beagle Daisy and my cat Ike.

My assistant, Mrs. Hagemann, has been at Douglas for 13 years. She was born and raised in Raleigh, where she currently lives with her husband of 25 years and their golden retriever. Her son, a graduate of Douglas Elementary, is senior in college. Mrs. Hagemann is the best TA in the business, and I am lucky to have her working with me (even though my messy desk drives her crazy!)
